Who Are We?
The Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs was formed in 1998 with an aim to co-ordinate the independent supporters clubs which existed at the time, into a structure which would establish a formal line of communication between the fans and the IFA. The IFA now recognises the Amalgamation as the voice of the Northern Ireland team's supporters. For more on the Amalgamation click here.
Why Are We Concerned?
How could we fail not to be? The Government has proposed a disaster of (white) elephantine proportions. We recognise the need for a new stadium and no-one desires 21 st century facilities more than ourselves but being blackmailed into a project that does not provide the best deal for football is not acceptable.
What Are We Doing About it?
The first step was to survey fans at the Northern Ireland vs. Wales World Cup Qualifier in October 2005 as well as members of official supporters’ clubs.
This canvassed the view of actual fans – the real customers who will have to attend matches at any new stadium. 2777 people responded and 91.7% rejected the Government’s proposal. Click here to see full details of our survey – the only survey done so far on the Maze Stadium issue.
